What is Cotillion, and
what does the word Cotillion mean?
The word Cotillion means
a party with manners. The Gollatz Cotillion expands this meaning
to include dining skills, social conduct and fun with etiquette!
What
are Family Nights?
The “Family Night” is intended for
all family members to be able to attend, siblings included. The
parents are to dance with their child 3 dances, if
the parent cannot attend, a sibling or another student will dance
with your child. There will be many different situations at cotillion
for many students. Dress code pertains to all attending.
May I invite friends?
Yes, friends are a large
part of the Cotillion experience - registration is open to everyone.
Is it the same instruction
every year?
No. The dance portion of
the Cotillion will be advanced each year and the dining skills again,
will be more advanced leading up to the older grades.
Why don't we have Cotillion
in the Spring and Summer months?
Many of the children have
sport conflicts especially in the warmer months. It is very difficult
to have our Cotillion balance girls to boys in those months.
How soon after I send
my response to the office will I hear if I am a member?
Usually within a week.
My child is on a waiting
list, what do I do now?
You will receive either
an e-mail or letter stating that your child is on a waiting list.
Either you may find a partner for your child or remain on the list
in hopes of the class balancing itself.
I forgot to register,
how do I get in now?
Many times the classes
are full and we can not accept anymore children. However, the parent
may call the office and find out if there is space available.
Do I have to stay with
my child or may I drop them off?
Cotillion prides itself
on a safe environment. Your child is safe at the Cotillion. Many
families choose to stay because it is so fun to see their child
transform before their very eyes.
What about siblings?
They are always welcome
as well as guests that would like to observe.
What are the Guest policies?
You may invite an unregistered guest
to observe only once a season - perferably on 'Family Night."
Please let our office know ahead of time to expect them.
What happens if we
are late to the class?
Please seek out either
the Chaperone for the evening or see directly Mr. Klapp for a partner
placement.
Are we automatically
invited next year to the Cotillion?
Yes, once your family has
enjoyed the Gollatz Cotillion experience your family will be placed
in our data base for years to come.
What are my duties as a Chaperone?
Chaperones are asked to arrive on the
evening scheduled at least 15 minutes before the Cotillion commences
and appropriately dressed. Upon arrival, please complete a name
tag located on the reception table. You will be registering the
children as they arrive by placing a "Check
Mark" in front of the student's names as they arrive - An
"A" in front if Absent or adding the
name of a student that arrives that is Not on the list.
Please remain at the registration table
(check-in) approximately 15 minutes after the Cotillion begins to
accommodate any late arrivals. During the Cotillion chaperones are
asked to remain in the room and be available. At the conclusion
of the Cotillion the children will shake your hand and address you
by name and with a compliment. Please make certain that all children
have direct eye contact with you and that the children address you
correctly and clearly.
